We have experienced a lead from Marketo syncing to the contact object in Salesforce.com but on the account record 'Synch with Marketo' is false. How can Marketo by pass the checkbox? Sales Insight remains active.
The SFDC/Marketo integration is intended to be bi-directional. That means all leads in Marketo are in SFDC and vice versa. Often, we see clients set up a custom filter in Salesforce (it's a Boolean field, not a workflow or anything "fancy") that limits records from coming over to Marketo. Most people do this because their Marketo database size is too small to handle the size of the SFDC database. For example, you only have 100k leads in your Marketo subscription, but you have 200k in SFDC.
Because Marketo is a lead-centric database, you'll want to make sure your boolean field is on the lead or contact record and not the account only. Does that help?
Also, we generally do not recommend having this filter in place. If you're up for some good reading, check out this blog post on why: Here's Why You Should be Mirroring Your Salesforce & Marketo Databases - LeadMD
Hi Theresa - Did you check the the activity log of the record in Marketo? That will help give insight into how it got synced.
Yes, I checked the log and there is no activity related to the checkbox.
To add on to Beth's suggestion, which is a great place to start, can you help us better understand your specific scenario?
Here's what I gather from your question:
Am I understanding that correctly? To clarify, is your custom sync filter on the contact or the account?
Jamie, I always thought the 'Synch with Marketo' was a standard field from Marketo. The field resides on the account object.
I went into SFDC to see if we had custom code (class, trigger, workflow rules, etc) for the checkbox. I'm not finding a relationship.
