Hi all, we're currently building a new website and our web team prefers to use SFDC forms on it rather than embed Marketo forms. Are there any pro and cons to using SFDC forms instead of Marketo forms?
Best practices dictate that you should use Marketo Forms. This will ensure that the lead is converted in Marketo as a known lead and no longer will it be anonymous. If you ue the SFDC Form the lead may stay anonymous in marketo for a time.
"for a time" = "forever" (unless you design specifically to deal with this problem).
Absolutely agree with what Jamie said. There are a lot of implications to having that lead as known in your database through an acquisition that Marketo can track. Specifically as that drives the conversion to membership in programs, what is their acquisition program. These have implications to understanding what marketing activities drive marketing engagement, what is contributing to pipeline and revenue. If you use SFDC forms you lose all that valuable data that Marketo provides.
Also, amongst other things, SFDC forms usually do not deduplicate, which creates a mess in your DB.
Thanks everyone. Sounds like this is not a valid option then. If you can think of any additional reasons, why this could make our life harder, please let me know.
More broadly, you should better have a lead flow that is consistent for all leads:
But is you have some lead that flow in one direction and others in another direction, you are sure that you are adding complexity and maintenance costs.
